SECRETARY’S REPORT

The minutes from the January 10 monthly Board meeting were approved as read and will be forwarded to Tom Marsh for our website.

TREASURER’S REPORT

Janice reported that we have $9964.12 in the General account as of January 16, 2007, and $5642.51 in the Boogie account as of January 1, 2007.

RESULTS OF RE-UP PARTY, JANUARY 6

Chuck reported that we now have 132 members.  We have a list of a few people that we are still hoping to hear from.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN BOOGIE

Hospitality

Jill Long and Karen Sparks will be sharing this responsibility this year.

Dance Workshops

Betty Ladwig has suggested that we consider adding a line dance workshop (“Sweat”) to our Schedule of Events to be taught by P.J. and Lisa Turner and Jim and Kelli Rainey.  Chuck has been told that there are a large number of steps to this line dance, and he did not think that it is a dance that is done at any of the Shag events.  While the Board does not necessarily oppose this dance being taught, they felt they needed to get more information before making a decision.  Marcia will contact Sandra Barker and/or Betty.  Chuck has bought four wireless microphone kits for our dance instructors to use.

Flyers

Chuck has sent flyers to approximately 100 Shag clubs.  Tom Marsh has made efforts to contact approximately 800 previous party attendees via e-mail.  Because of the large number, however, some of his messages were tagged as “spam,” so he had to break up the distribution list into smaller lots. (There’s gotta be a joke in there somewhere; I’ll get back to you.)

50/50

The Board agreed to change the time of the drawing each night from 12 midnight to 11 p.m. as we had had several complaints about the midnight hour being too late.   Marcia reported that Jean Brown has agreed to make two baskets to be given away as door prizes on Thursday and Fright nights.  The Board agreed on a $50 limit for each.

One Day Pass - $30

“Ask Me to Dance” Buttons

In an effort to “brand” our party, it was agreed that we should find an emblem or logo to go on these buttons (i.e., Smoky the Bear).  They would make good souvenirs (and an inexpensive reminder of how much fun our guests had and also serve as a prompt to make them want to come again), should the attendees decide to take them home.

ASCS MANUAL

We have not yet received the Association manual.  Janice will check the status.

QUARTERLY BUSINESS MEETING

Because of some unforeseen conflicts, The Board had to postpone the quarterly business meeting that was originally scheduled for February 7.  It has been rescheduled for March 12 (7:00 p.m. at the IBEW union hall).  The main purpose of this meeting will to finalize plans for the Boogie.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Marcia Lawson, Secretary
