Minutes of Monthly Board Meeting

December 4, 2006

Location:  Workplace of Chuck Kryder, Knox Glass, 2150 North Central Street, Knoxville

Board Members Present:  President Chuck Kryder, Vice President Dave Mitchell, Secretary Marcia Lawson, Treasurer Janice Davis, Party Chair Pat Clark

Chuck called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 

SECRETARY’S REPORT

Marcia presented the minutes from the October 30 monthly Board meeting.  They were approved as read and will be forwarded to Tom Marsh for our website. 

SMOKY MOUNTAIN BOOGIE

If possible, ticket applications for the Boogie will be made available for distribution at the Christmas party on Dec. 9.

Chuck and Bill Vann have met with Ben Humphrey at the Pigeon Forge Music Road Hotel and Convention Center.  We have signed a contract for 2008 (March 20-23).  This is Easter weekend; but we were told that if we commit to Easter in 2008, we will have first chance to negotiate for a non-Easter weekend in 2009. 

SPRING SAFARI SOS

Janice has 20 more SOS tickets on order and hopes to have them available for sale at the Christmas party.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Janice has prepared a tri-fold handout for the party which included the following tentative schedule:  Opening Remarks by Chuck at 7:15 p.m., Blessing and Military Tribute by Dave at 7:20 p.m., Dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m.; Santa to arrive between 7:30-8 p.m., Photo Ops by Rose throughout the evening.

Marcia will do 50/50.  It was recommend that we do not sell $1 tickets tonight, BUT the winner of the pot will get one FREE 50/50 ticket at every Club event for the next year (must be present at that event, non-transferable).  Marcia will also get a Guest Registry Book for use throughout the year at our Club parties.  At Pat’s suggestion, Marcia will contact Holston Hills to make sure that coffee will be available all evening.   

We will raffle the following at the party:  a free SOS ticket, a free Boogie ticket, one free SMS club membership, and two jerseys.  Dave has asked Marcia, Pat, Billy Kuhn, and Rick Owens to provide cakes to be raffled off also. 

Pat Clark will get the table decorations (to be stored for use next year.)

Pat suggested we get “Ask Me To Dance” buttons for the Christmas party (as well as the Boogie).    Marcia to inquire about this.  

RE-UP PARTY, JANUARY 6

The book that June has (Shag, the Legendary Dance of the South) will be raffled off at the re-up party.  The Board decided to meet again later this month specifically to finish preparations for the party.  Chuck reported that we have 139 members as of December 4.    

TREASURER’S REPORT

The report was approved as submitted.  Janice will make copies of these reports available to the membership on Sunday nights at the Holiday Inn.
