Our History
The inception of the "Smoky Mountain Shaggers", dates back to 1996, when a small group of dancers would meet for dining and dancing. that group of ten dancers formed the nucleus of the Club we know today. Formally meeting originally in Blount County at the now defunct "Shy Ann's" and moving a total of 5 times over the years to our present location of the Holiday Inn Select, at Cedar Bluff Rd., in Knoxville
Initially affiliated with Southern Shaggers, Inc. the first board of directors was formed and application to The Association of Carolina Shag Clubs was successfully completed in February of 1999. We held our first election of officers in June of 2000, and will have our election each June. At this printing we now have grown to 80 active members and are experiencing record turn outs at our regular meetings.
